Dog Walker & Pet Sitter Position Requirements
Providing dependable, professional pet care requires more than simply loving animals. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Dog walking applicants must have weekday availability Monday–Friday, approximately 10:00 AM–4:00 PM. Most walks take place between 11:00 AM–3:00 PM, with additional availability needed for travel, pickups, extended services, and schedule variations.
Applicants with more limited or flexible availability may be considered for part-time, pet sitting, or coverage positions based on current company needs.
Must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Professional pet care experience is preferred but not required. Personal, volunteer, or other relevant animal experience is welcome.
Must be committed to positive reinforcement and force-free handling. We do not use or support aversive handling methods while pets are in our care.
Must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in New England weather—including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
Must have a reliable smartphone with internet access and communicate promptly with management regarding schedules, services, and client needs.
Must be dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to recognize and report changes in a pet's behavior, health, or environment.
Must be comfortable entering clients' homes and maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and respect.
Most importantly, you must genuinely love animals and be committed to treating every pet with patience, kindness, and respect.
